My Once Upon a Time....

It was the first day of school, senior year in high school.  All the requisite courses were out of the way and all that were needed were some hours.  Business Law was up in the business course area of the building, an area where someone in college prep courses rarely went.  Unfamiliar with that area, she arrived a few minutes late for the first class and hurried to the only empty seat in the room, right in front of the new boy in school.  He looked so different!  He was bad boy handsome, with a slightly mocking smile and a twinkle in his eye that made her heartbeat quicken.  He was sitting right next to her friend, Jerry, who seemed to know him and quietly he introduced her to him.

His voice and his eyes went right to the core of her.  It was obvious he was interested, and so was she!  Having put her old boyfriend off to college just a few weeks earlier, she hadn't expected to be so strongly attracted already to someone so soon.  But, she was, oh, she was!

Walking out of class that day, he waited for her.  He walked her to her locker and stood talking with her for a while.  That became a common thing in the next few days and within a week he had asked her out.  By Thanksgiving, she was totally, absolutely and irrevocably head over heels in love.  When her old boyfriend came home for break, she told him that she had met someone and fallen for him.  She was sorry, and broke off 2 1/2 years of going steady with him.  He was hurt, angry and asked her who he was.  She told him and was shocked when he threw his parting shot at her on the way out the door..."Don't let him get you pregnant!"

We do get taken back to those days, don't we? I envy you the fact that he cared enough to try to retrieve you and his son from that place.

Sandy,

Your picture took me back. We were so young,so innocent. And in love!

That era was the end of our innocese. We were thrown go
the adoption machine ground to bits with our babies.

Sadly we all lost not only our babies but ourselves.
