HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

MY DAD

My father, to the best of my knowledge,  still owns the distinction of being the youngest alderman ever elected in the state of Illinois.  He was 20 when elected and 21 when he took office.  He was quite a guy, my Dad.  Charming, handsome, charismatic, he won the heart of my mother and the people who met him were instantly drawn in by his honesty, integrity and sincerity.  One of his teachers told my Grandmother that he was the nicest boy she ever had in her class.

I miss my Dad.  There are many things I would still love to talk to him about, not the least of which is the loss of my son.  I love you, Dad, but we really need to talk....

He didn’t tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.

I wonder did your father have anything to do with surrender? I know mine did and that's why I'm not celebrating Father's Day. Sharon

Sharon, Oh, yes, my father was very much responsible for my surender. He made the arrangements, he took me there, he talked to the social worker, and he told me that I could come home, but I could never, ever bring my child. The social worker taught him how to overcome my objections, because I had balked in our discussion. Yes, my Dad and I need to talk....if he were alive, we would be talking now....
